The chief of police, Shon Barnes, in Madison, WI matter of factly reported the stats from the mass shooting at Abundant Life Christian School a week before Christmas: three dead (including the shooter) and six wounded. And then, with a tremble in his voice,  he said, “And all the children in the school will be injured for the rest of their lives.”

The photograph is the result of some time spent learning to create mandalas with an iPhone app.

    I also was struck by that comment by the chief of police when it was first reported. So true, so poignant, and so rarely expressed.
